Shaeffer Run 4-28-2020

Gary did most of the 'catching' today while Ed and I did most of the fishing.
Fish were hitting well when we first arrived. Sun was on the water and the bugs were out. In an hour or so a cold front came in and the fish switched…
One of Gary's. Nice little brookie.
I got one in this hole. The fish was on the far side of the stream in the undercut. It came out and hit on the first cast.
Better look at the same hole. Bet it held more than one or two fish but, like I noted, the weather changed abruptly.
Here's the fish I pulled from that hole. Pretty fins..
Another pic of the same fish.
Then Gary got another. Some fish were in the 8 inch class but most were just like this one.
The water was ideal. It appeared to be up an inch or two from previous days rain.
This stretch will be fun to cast when the bugs are in full hatch and dry fly fishing is working.
Obviously, we were far from skunked. Many of the fish did not make it to the camera.
Seems that we always get to the stream too late. Gonna have to correct that in the future.
Last time I visited this stream I caught a bunch of chubs. Not this time though. Think I only hit one.
Another brookie for Gary. I think Ed got one or two but there was no camer around to get a pic.
